On the occasion of Jamhuri Day, also known as Kenya's National Day, Cuban Ambassador Juan Manuel Rodríguez Vázquez attended the central activity, held at the Uhuru Park in Nairobi, the country's capital city. The activity consisted of a colorful and solemn ceremony which included a military parade, cultural activities and a political act presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Every December 12 the country celebrates Jamhuri Day or National Holiday to commemorate the birth of the Republic of Kenya in 1964. Its independence from the United Kingdom was achieved a year before on that very date, thus Jamhuri Day has a two-fold celebration and it's the most important holiday in the country.
