Havana, January 21, 2022.- The Family Code project to be debated in Cuba between February and April will include issues such as the flow of travelers and the transnationality of the Cuban family.
Ernesto Soberón, general director of Consular Affairs and Cubans Resident Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stressed in a broadcast on Facebook that due to their experiences of living in Cuba and later in other societies, nationals residing abroad will make an important contribution to the debate of the legal body.
Nationals residing in more than 140 countries will be able to participate in the debate on the legal text by sending opinions to the Nation and Emigration website.
Soberón added that a similar experience took place during the debate on the Constitution approved in April 2019, when opinions were received digitally from more than 120 countries, 40 percent of which were included in the final text.
It is hoped that all Cubans who wish to have the opportunity and possibility to transfer their criteria and this measure is part of Cuba's interest in strengthening its ties with nationals abroad.
Cuba will submit to popular consultation the draft of a new Family Code with the purpose of adapting the current legal framework in the country to the social realities of the current family.
