Cuba and the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa strengthen relations

The Executive Director of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), Dr. Yemi Akinbamijo, was received at the Cuban Embassy by the Ambassador Pedro L. Despaigne González, who exchanged on the best way to put in function the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2015 with the Ministry of Agriculture of Cuba, as well as its possible extension to other countries of the continent. 

Cubans in Ghana celebrate Father's Day

Members of the Cuban community at Ghana, together with Ghanaian graduates in Cuba and the members of the Cuban State Mission celebrated the Father's Day.

The meeting was held in T-Havana areas, in the city of Tema, which became an ideal setting to exchanges on the reality of the Caribbean island in an atmosphere of Cubanness. The Ambassador Pedro L. Despaigne González, on behalf of the members of the State Mission in the country, congratulated the all the fathers there present.

New York, 16 June 2017.Cuba acknowledged the worthiness of the draft of the Convention for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which is under discussion within the framework of the UN Conference to Negotiate a Legally Binding Instrument to Prohibit Nuclear Weapons, Leading towards their Total Elimination, being held at the United Nations headquarters, in New York, and which will conclude next 7 July.

On June 16, 2017, US President Donald Trump delivered a speech full of hostile anti-Cuban rhetoric reminiscent of the times of open confrontation with our country in a Miami theater. He announced his government’s Cuba policy, which rolls back the progress achieved over the last two years since December 17, 2014, when Presidents Raúl Castro and Barack Obama announced the decision to re-establish diplomatic relations and engage in a process towards the normalization of bilateral relations.

GRULAC ambassadors support Conference on Latin American Studies in Asia and Oceania

Wellington, June 14, 2016. In a meeting held at Victoria University of Wellington with Pro Vice – Chancellor Roberto Rabel, the ambassadors of Argentina, Chile, Cuba and Mexico, exchanged had an exchange on the 7th Conference of the Council for Latin American Studies of Asia and Oceania, to be held in December in the New Zealand capital. Academics, politicians, businessmen and personalities from both regions will take part in the event to discuss links between the two sides and encourage greater links, emphasizing the role of the Pacific Ocean as a point of contact.

Cuban sports coaches returned to Barbados

The National Sports Council (CND) of Barbados approved the extension of existing cooperation agreement with the Cuban company Cubadeportes S.A., which made it possible for a first group of Cuban coaches returned to the country to assist in various sports disciplines. Sports trainers Angel Manuel Marín (Field Hockey), Mijail Santos (Cycling), Felipe Álvarez (Boxing) and Julio Alberto Madrazo (Volleyball), were met at the airport by Cuban Ambassador, Francisco Fernandez, accompanied by Mona Alleyne and Marcia Trotman, NSC´s representatives.

New York, 6 June 2017. Accompanied by delegation members, the Cuban Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), José Fidel Santana Nuñez, participated today in the reception organized at UN headquarters by the Permanent Representatives of the Pacific Small Island Developing States (PSIDS), on the occasion of the celebration of the United Nations Ocean Conference.

Chancellor Maxine McClean chaired the Barbados delegation to the VII ACS Summit in Cuba.

The Honorable Senator Maxine McClean, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados, led the delegation of her country to the Seventh Summit of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), which was also composed of the Permanent Secretary, Cecile Humphrey, the Ambassador to CARICOM, Robert Morris, and the officer Unit Caribbean - CARICOM, Corey Archer, who in turn had an active participation in the discussion of the documents during the Senior Officials Meeting, held on June 2nd.
