76 UNGA: Remarks by Cuba at the General Debate of the 60th session of the Commission for Social Development. Nueva York, 14 February 2022

Madam Chair,

My delegation associates itself with the remarks delivered by Pakistan on behalf of the Group of 77 and China. In addition, I would like to point out the following elements in national capacity.

Two years after the outbreak of the pandemic, the socio-economic situation triggered by the COVID-19 continues to seriously impact on all areas of social development.

Statement of the Cuban delegation in the general discussion of item 19 c) “Crime prevention and criminal justice”, Management Segment of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). New York, 22 July 2021.

Mr. President:

Cuba remains fully committed to the United Nations efforts in crime prevention and criminal justice, and we reaffirm the relevance of the CCPCJ, which is evident when assessing the report of its 30th session.

It is also clear that this complex topic requires further international cooperation. However, contrary to that spirit, several countries continue to be under unilateral coercive measures that have a heavy toll on sustainable development, including crime prevention and criminal justice efforts.

75 UNGA: Statement by Cuba at interactive dialogue “Building back better - women's participation and leadership in COVID-19 response and recovery” of the 65th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women of ECOSOC. New York, 18 March 2021

Mr. Chair,

In order to address the health and socioeconomic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cuba conceived a preventive, intersectoral and multidisciplinary model, implementing and perfecting more than 500 measures to confront this disease and ensure the protection of the entire population.

Our country has adopted labor, salary and social security and assistance measures which protect the entire population, especially women and groups at greater risk and vulnerability.
