Cuba and its emigration strengthen ties as an irreversible process

Havana, Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuba currently maintains its will to strengthen ties with its nationals who reside abroad as an irreversible and constantly updated process.

It was confirmed by the general director of Consular Affairs and Cuban Residents Abroad, Ernesto Soberon, at a recent meeting with Carlos Lazo, leader of the Bridges of Love movement, and other activists who reject the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba.

First financing for Cuba’s Covid-19 vaccines approved

Tegucigalpa, Jan 11 (Prensa Latina) The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) approved the first financing for 46.7 million euros for Cuba to produce 200 million doses of its home-grown vaccines against Covid-19, it was reported on Tuesday.

With this budget, Cuba, an extraterritorial member of CABEI, will also be able to strengthen the capacities to develop other drugs, medical equipment and diagnostic kits for the benefit of the population, according to a press release on the financial institution’s website.

Cuba applies new measures for international health control

New international health measures took effect in Cuba on Wednesday due to the surge in Covid-19 cases in the past few weeks and the fast spread of the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

According to the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP, in Spanish), travelers coming from South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Malawi and Eswatini will have to, on a mandatory basis, show a vaccination card upon arrival proving they have been fully vaccinated.
