Cuba reports 8 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours

Havana, May 22 -- The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported that there were 8 new cases of COVID-19, for an total of 1,916 positive cases across the island.  

During his daily press briefing held Friday morning, Dr. Duran said that over the past 24 hours -- up to 12 midnight Thursday night -- unfortunately, one patient died from the coronavirus.  A total of 81 patients have died from COVID-19 in Cuba over the past several months.

Cuban President regrets USA does not cooperate in fighting terrorism

Havana, May 15 - The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, stated that the United States does not cooperate in the fight against terrorism, and is in complicity with those actions against Cuba.

'Cuba is still waiting for the results of the investigation and measures against the terrorist who attacked (the Cuban embassy) in Washington,' the president tweeted regarding the attack that took place on April 30th.

Havana, May 14 (RHC)-- The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported that there were 20 new cases of COVID-19, for an total of 1,830 positive cases across the island.  

During his daily press briefing held Thursday morning, Dr. Duran said that over the past 24 hours -- up to 12 midnight Wednesday night -- fortunately, no patients died from the coronavirus.  There are a total of 79 who have died from COVID-19 in Cuba.

Over 1,000 Cuban health professionals fight Covid-19 in 23 countries

(Havana, May 14, 2020). More than 1,000 Cuban medical collaborators are working in the red zone providing care to Covid-19 patients in 23 countries, while the others are working in wards for observation, convalescence and consults.

Those professionals are members of 25 brigades of the Henry Reeve International Contingent Specialized in Situations of Disasters and Serious Epidemics, who joined the existing missions in 60 countries, the director of the Central Unit of Medical Collaboration, Jorge Delgado, said on Cuban television.

Caricom Foreign Ministers demand end to US blockade of Cuba

Georgetown, May 12. The foreign ministers of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) countries reiterated their condemnation to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba and called for its lifting.

The denunciation of the unilateral measure with which the United States has been lobbying Cuba to abdicate its revolutionary process and its socialist development system took place within the context of the 23rd Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (Cofcor) of the Caricom.
