Vietnam launches national donation campaign to support Cuban people

A national donation campaign was launched in Hanoi on August 13 to rally support for the Cuban people on the occasion of the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Year and the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Organised by the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS) Central Committee in coordination with ministries, central agencies, and mass organisations, the event was held in person and online, connecting with 33 localities nationwide.

Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man emphasised Vietnam’s commitment to deepen the traditional solidarity and special friendship with Cuba at his meeting with President of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo in Geneva, Switzerland, on July 30.

At the event, which took place on the sidelines of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament at the UN headquarters, the Vietnamese top legislator expressed his delight at the robust development of the bilateral relations over the recent past, particularly the close cooperation between the two legislatures.

The Vietnam–Cuba relationship is a unique bond of brotherhood and solidarity, forged through their struggles against imperialism and in the process of building socialism, and stands as a lasting legacy that transcends geographical distance and cultural differences toward a sustainable future, according to Gerardo Penalver Portal, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba. In an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between the two countries, Peñalver Portal highlighted the special nature and key milestones in the bilateral relations, which have been strengthened by leaders of both countries.

Vietnam, Cuba commit to stronger ties during eighth political consultation

Vietnam and Cuba reaffirmed the commitment to deepening their historic partnership during the eighth political consultation in Hanoi on July 24, co-chaired by Vietnam’s Standing Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu and Cuba’s First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Gerardo Peñalver Portal during the latter’s official visit to Vietnam from July 22-25.

Vu briefed his Cuban guest on Vietnam’s recent socio-economic progress and outlined plans, affirming that the Vietnamese Party, State, and people always attach great importance to the traditional solidarity, special friendship, and comprehensive cooperation with Cuba.

Deputy PM receives Cuban Deputy FM to strengthen bilateral ties

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son hosted a reception in Hanoi on July 23 for Cuba's First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Gerardo Peñalver Portal, who is visiting Vietnam from July 22 to 25 for a political consultation. Welcoming the Cuban Deputy FM back to Vietnam, Deputy PM Son expressed delight at the continued consolidation and development of Vietnam – Cuba relations across multiple fields.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to closely coordinate in the implementation of measures for further strengthening bilateral ties.

Vietnamese PM meets with top Cuban leader on BRICS summit sidelines

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a meeting with First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz Canel in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on July 6 (local time) on the sidelines of the expanded BRICS summit.

PM Chinh conveyed the warm regards from Party General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and from himself to General Raul Castro, Diaz-Canel, and other Cuban leaders.

Cuban students celebrate Vietnam – Cuba friendship through writing, art contest

The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) hosted an awards ceremony in Havana on July 4 for the national competition on the Vietnam – Cuba friendship, commemorating 65 years of the diplomatic ties (December 2, 1960–2025) and marking the Friendship Year between the two countries.

The contest, titled “Cuba – Vietnam: amistad sin fronteras” (Cuba – Vietnam: friendship without borders) drew 454 submissions from Cuban students aged 6 to 14 across 59 primary and secondary schools.

Cuban and Vietnamese journalists friendship reaffirmed

The ties of brotherhood between journalists from Cuba and Vietnam were ratified during the celebrations for the centenary of the Revolutionary Press of the Asian country, said today the vice-president of the UPEC, Juan Carlos Ramirez.

At the head of the Cuban delegation, which attended the events for the date, Ramirez also highlighted the closer ties between the Association of Journalists of Vietnam (AVJ) and the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC), whose guilds already have a long-standing relationship, he recalled.

Vice Minister of Cuba’s MES evaluates collaboration with Vietnam

Evaluating the potential for collaboration with Vietnamese institutions is among the main objectives of the working visit made today here by Reynaldo Velázquez, deputy minister of the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education (MES).

Although there is a tradition of cooperation that dates back many years, we are at a good time to reach a new stage and strengthen ties between higher education centers of both countries, Velazquez told Prensa Latina.

Vietnam eyes stronger relations with Cuba

Deputy Minister of Finance Le Tan Can led a Vietnamese Government delegation to pay a working visit to Cuba from April 11 to 14, aiming to further strengthen the traditional solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, especially in terms of economics, trade and investment.

During their stay, the Vietnamese delegation paid courtesy calls to First Secretary of the Communist Party and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel, and Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, during which the Cuban leaders conveyed their regards to Party General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other senior leaders of Vietnam.
