Ian Lavery MP is the eighteenth British parliamentarian to formally nominate Cuban medics for the Nobel Peace Prize
Ian Lavery MP is the eighteenth British Member of Parliament to formally nominate the Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize. Ian was elected MP for Wansbeck in North East England in 2010 and was Chair of the Labour Party between 2017-2020. Ian was previously President of the National Union of Mineworkers from 2002 to 2010.

London, 13 January, 2021.- Cuban Ambassador to the United Kingdom Bárbara Montalvo Álvarez attended this afternoon an online event organized by the Cuban Solidarity Campaign local group in Merseyside, England.
Montalvo gave an up-to-date presentation of the country’s efforts to tackle the COVID-19, and praised Cuba’s health system which allows to sustain all other health programs. She highlighted that 85.1% of all diagnosed cases have recovered, and that only 3.6% of them had to be admitted to critical care units.
