British Union of Teachers Awarded
UNITED KINGDOM, 23 February, 2017. - The Medal for the 55th Anniversary of the Establishment of the National Union of Education, Science and Sports Workers (SNTECD, by its Spanish initials), awarded in Pedagogy 2017 to the National Union of Teachers (NUT), was presented to its Secretary General, Kevin Courtney, during the meeting of its national executive.
The Ambassador to Cuba, Teresita Vicente Sotolongo, stated that the medal of the Cuban union had its origin in the campaign carried out in Cuba in 1961 for eradicating illiteracy.

UNITED KINGDOM, 12 July 2016.- Len McCluskey, leader of the British union Unite, welcomed Cuban heroes, Gerardo and Rene, to the union conference in Brighton, devoting a space to their relatives.
Meanwhile, both Cuban antiterrorists thanked this British union for their commitment in support of the struggle of the labour movement in Britain for the liberation of the Cuban Five; They highlighted the gestures received from their former leader, Tony Woodley, who repeatedly visited Gerardo in prison, being the last person to see him there before his release.

UNITED KINGDOM, July 11, 2016.- As part of their travel across the country, Gerardo and René toured the British Capital today. In the morning, they visited the headquarters of Morning Star newspaper, to grant an interview to the newspaper that they used to read and share during the 16 years of unjust US prison.
