U.S. blockade affects Cuba's postal service.

The economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba limits money orders and the parcel service on the island, said today the First Deputy Minister of Communications, Wilfredo Gonzalez.

The refusal to sign with the Antillean nation the Post Office-Money Order Agreement, sponsored by the Universal Postal Union and the Postal Union of the Americas, Spain and Portugal, limits the right of people to send financial aid to relatives and friends in Cuba, said the official.

FAO collaborates with Cuba to prevent food losses

Havana, Aug 4 (RHC) The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) collaborates with Cuba in efforts to prevent and reduce food losses and waste.

A statement from that office in Havana specified that the organization works closely with the National Committee for the Prevention and Reduction of Food Losses and Waste, providing technical expertise to more effectively deal with shrinkage and remains in the country.

Young people from the José Martí Solidarity Brigade visit Cuba.

Young members of the "José Martí" Brigade of Voluntary Work and Solidarity with Cuba visited today the headquarters of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, in Cienfuegos.

On its 50th visit to Cuba, this Brigade is mostly made up of young Europeans and sought to commemorate the 170th anniversary of the birth of the Cuban Independence Apostle José Martí, the 64th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution and the 70th anniversary of the National Rebellion Day.

Cuba evokes today and every day the emancipatory and supportive legacy of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, who is about to celebrate the 97th anniversary of his birth on August 13.

His imprint continues to mark, seven years after his death, the country's efforts to consolidate its sovereignty and independence, and the permanent improvement of the socialist system, in the face of hostility from the United States, and the intensification of the blockade imposed by that power since more than 60 years ago.

Cuba Mission in the U.S. celebrates National Rebellion Day.

The collective of the Cuba Mission in the United States today recalled the 70th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks, actions that marked a decisive stage in the Caribbean nation.

 Chief of Mission Lianys Torres said that on July 26, 1953, the young people of the Centennial Generation, led by Fidel Castro, started the engine towards the definitive liberation that arrived on January 1, 1959.
