Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Cuban Government strongly rejects the current deployment of United States military forces in the Caribbean Sea. This dangerous action represents a serious threat and an aggressive show of force against the sovereignty and self-determination of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean. Furthermore, it ignores the commitment of the 33 Member States of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States when they proclaimed the region as a Zone of Peace.
Namibia, July 16th, 2021- During the past few days, there were reports of widespread protests in Cuba. In some media they were presented as uprisings against the government of Cuba and parallels were even drawn to the protests in Eswatini against elite corruption and royal dictatorship. We wish to clarify the events in Cuba and place them into their political and socio-economic context.
Namibia, October 21st, 2019- Under the auspices of the Municipality of City of Windhoek, capital of Namibia, and the embassies of Venezuela and Cuba, the first edition of the NamCuVe Film Festival was inaugurated. The Ambassador of Cuba in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Vilma Reyes Valdespino, participated in the activity, organized by the Embassy of Venezuelan in that Eastern Caribbean country, to commemorate the 198th anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo, a decisive feat in the independence of Venezuela from the Spanish yoke.
The Revolutionary Government strongly condemns the sabotage perpetrated against the power supply system in Venezuela, which is a terrorist action intended to harm the defenseless population of an entire nation and turn it into a hostage of the non-conventional war launched by the government of the United States against the legitimate government headed by comrade Nicolás Maduro Moros and the civic and military union of the Bolivarian and Chavista people.
The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba condemns the escalation of pressures and actions of the US government in preparation for a military adventure under the guise of a humanitarian intervention in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and calls on the international community to mobilize in order to prevent its consummation.
The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba condemns and energetically rejects the attempt to impose a coup d’etat, a puppet government at the service of the United States, in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and expresses its unwavering solidarity with the government of Constitutional President Nicolás Maduro Moros.
The true objectives of actions against Venezuela are to control the vast resources of this sister nation and destroy the value of its example, as an emancipatory process defending the dignity and independence of Our America.
