Cuban Head of Mission participates in activity to recognize Liberian government officials.

Monrovia, September 3, 2024 - At the invitation of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, in collaboration with UN Women, Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L Martinez Herrera participated in a special activity in recognition of current and former Liberian government officials and heads of international and UN organizations.

Monrovia, January 10, 2024 - In the afternoon, the Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera received at the diplomatic headquarters the visit of political leader MacDella Cooper who in the meeting expressed her good wishes for the New Year.

During the fraternal exchange, Mrs. Cooper referred to the achievements of women and their continuous struggle for empowerment, referring to Cuba as one of the countries where women are at the center of the economic and social development of the country.

Monrovia, December 2, 2023 - Cuban Chief of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera had an excellent exchange with one of the leading women in Liberia, Yvette Chesson-Wureh, who is a Member of the Association of Women Lawyers of Liberia, Initiator of the establishment of the Women's Situation Room, Coordinator of the Angie Brooks International Center for Women's Empowerment, Leadership Development, and Co-Chair of ECOWAS International Peace and Security.

Cuban Head of Mission meets with UN Women Goodwill Ambassador.

Monrovia, February 8, 2023 - At the invitation of UN Women in Liberia, Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera held a cordial and friendly meeting with Jaha Marie Dukureh, UN Women Goodwill Ambassador for Africa on the eradication of female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage, and with Alison Rowe, Senior Advisor on Gender Equality at UN Women.

During the excellent exchange, they discussed issues involving women in the development of today's society.

Monrovia, 29, 2022 - A cordial exchange took place between the Liberian Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection Honorable Williametta Piso Saydee-Tarr and the Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera in Monrovia, capital of Liberia.

During the meeting, both referred to the Official Launching of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence and the program of this day.

This year the program was launched by UN Goodwill Ambassador Jaha Dukureh, who is visiting Liberia.

Cuban Head of Mission holds exchange on gender equality with UN Women Representative in Liberia.

Monrovia, September 13, 2022 - Gender equality and women's empowerment is a topic that is very much addressed in Liberia, on which the Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera had the opportunity to exchange with Mrs. Comfort Lamptey, UN Women Representative in the West African country.

Cuba was the first country to sign the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women at the United Nations and the second to ratify it.

Head of Mission participates in inaugural ceremony of Women's Training Center in Liberia.

Monrovia, July 29, 2022 - Invited by the Office of the Vice President of Liberia, Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez Herrera participated in the inaugural ceremony of the Women's Training Center in Monrovia.

At the event, Liberian Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor officially opened and handed over the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) of Liberia's Jewels Training Center.
