Paramaribo, February, 17. The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Suriname, Igor Azcuy González held a relaxed meeting with Mw. Dinotha Okela Vorswijk, leader of the ABOB bench and Karto Evert, leader of the PL bench, both from the National Assembly. During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat conveyed the initiative to create a Cuba-Suriname Parliamentary Friendship Group and the possibility that both parliamentary representations would condemn Cuba's inclusion in the State Department's list as a country who promote terrorism. This action was carried out by the outgoing government of Donald Trump, days before leaving the White House. Likewise, the ambassador conveyed to the Surinamese parliamentarians details of the Cuban political system, the work of the parliament in his country, made up of 53.2% women; the historical confrontation with the US and the difficult conditions in which the island is being developed. It was agreed to maintain contact to convey the results of the negotiations and their evolution within both banks.
