Conrad Sackey - Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education
Yesterday, I paid a courtesy call on the Cuban Ambassador at her residence in Freetown, where we reaffirmed our shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in education, inclusive learning, and human capital development.
I was pleased to present a Yuletide hamper as a gesture of appreciation for the Fidel Castro portrait earlier gifted to me — a powerful reminder of Cuba’s historic solidarity with Sierra Leone and Africa.
Our discussions focused on expanding collaboration in student training, inclusive and special needs education, language preparation, and deeper engagement with Cuban-trained professionals and students. We also explored next steps towards a formal cooperation agreement and future technical and ministerial engagements.
I remain grateful for the continued support of the Cuban Government as we work to ensure that no learner is left behind and that education remains a cornerstone of our national development.
