Rome, February 14, 2024 - IFAD's 47th Governing Council has begun today and will be in sessions until February 15 under the theme "Innovation for a Food Secure Future".
The meeting which brings together heads of State, ministers, development professionals, innovation experts and small-scale farmers from all over the world, will discuss how the Fund and its partners can better harness innovation to help rural communities find solutions to the challenges they face and thrive in a rapidly changing world.
At the same time, an interactive Marketplace of Innovations will showcase 11 ground-breaking ideas that are delivering results for rural people using artificial intelligence and geospatial analysis, funded and developed by IFAD and partners.
The Cuban delegation is headed by alternate governor, ambassador Mirta Granda Averhoff, together with advisors Maury Hechavarría Bermúdez, deputy minister of Agriculture; Leonides Morales Sola, IFAD/MINAG OCP General Coordinator; and Gabriela Gámez Granda, third secretary in charge of multilateral affairs at the Embassy.
