Varsovia, 8 de mayo - Cuba reconoció la relevancia del sistemático diálogo birregional entre la CELAC y la Unión Europea sobre políticas de droga, lo que contribuye al abordaje integral de esta problemática entre las dos regiones. Así lo expuso la viceministra de Justicia Pilar Alicia Varona Estrada, en ocasión de la XXV Reunión de Alto Nivel del Mecanismo de Coordinación y Cooperación en Materia de Drogas (CELAC-UE), que tuvo lugar Varsovia, Polonia.
Tomando en consideración la experiencia de Cuba en su combate contra las drogas, basado en el principio de tolerancia cero, se ratificó la disposición de la nación caribeña de contribuir al abordaje del problema mundial y a la cooperación birregional al respecto. Durante la reunión se pasó revista a la implementación de la Declaración de La Paz y fueron delineados los objetivos a corto plazo en los que trabajará el Mecanismo hasta la siguiente reunión de alto nivel.
La delegación cubana a la Reunión de Alto Nivel del Mecanismo de Coordinación y Cooperación en Materia de Drogas CELAC- UE estuvo integrada además por Dennis Cásares Benítez, consejero del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y Bryan Gual Navarrete, primer secretario de la Misión de Cuba en Bruselas. La próxima reunión de Alto Nivel, tendrá lugar en República Dominicana en 2026.

Cuba reaffirms its commitment to the bi-regional dialogue between CELAC and EU on drug policy
Warsaw, May 8 - Cuba recognized the importance of the systematic bi-regional dialogue between CELAC and the European Union on drug policies, which contributes to a comprehensive approach to this issue between the two regions. This was stated by Viceminister of Justice Pilar Alicia Varona Estrada on the occasion of the 25th High-Level Meeting of the Coordination and Cooperation Mechanism on Drugs (CELAC-EU), held in Warsaw, Poland.
Taking into consideration Cuba's experience in its fight against drugs, based on the principle of zero tolerance, the Caribbean nation's willingness to contribute to addressing the global problem and to bi-regional cooperation in this regard was reaffirmed. During the meeting, the implementation of the La Paz Declaration was reviewed, and the short-term objectives on which the Mechanism will work until the next high-level meeting were outlined.
The Cuban delegation to the High-Level Meeting of the CELAC-EU Coordination and Cooperation Mechanism on Drugs also included Dennis Cásares Benítez, Counselor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Bryan Gual Navarrete, First Secretary of the Cuban Mission in Brussels. The next High-Level Meeting will take place in the Dominican Republic in 2026.
