The Cuban Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Ms. Norma Sanchez Águila, signed the book of condolences opened at the Embassy of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Freetown following the death of former Algerian President Liamine Zeroual.
During the ceremony, the Cuban diplomat conveyed, on behalf of the people and Government of Cuba, her deepest condolences to the people and Government of Algeria, highlighting Zeroual’s historic legacy as a leader committed to the sovereignty, stability, and development of his nation.
She also highlighted the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation that have historically united Cuba and Algeria, forged on the basis of mutual respect, solidarity, and the shared struggle for just causes on the international stage.
The Ambassador expressed her appreciation for the former leader’s career, underscoring his contribution to the consolidation of the Algerian state during complex moments in its contemporary history.
The Government of Cuba reiterates its solidarity with the brotherly Algerian people at this time of mourning and honors the memory of a prominent leader of their country.
