Cuban officials participate in the International Design Series at the Philadelphia Athenæum

Cuban Consul General Yanet Pumariega and cultural attaché David Ramírez participated on January 28 in the International Design Series, organized by the historic Philadelphia Athenaeum, with a presentation dedicated to The Legacy of Eusebio Leal, a prominent intellectual and key figure in the comprehensive restoration of Havana's Historic Center.

During the event, Leal's vision of heritage preservation as a living process was discussed, in which architecture, design, history, and community interact to revitalize urban spaces without losing their cultural essence. Pumariega highlighted the humanistic dimension of Leal's thinking and its lasting impact on Cuban cultural identity, while Ramírez emphasized the relevance of his legacy as an international benchmark in heritage conservation and cultural management.

Participation in the International Design Series reaffirms the value of academic and cultural exchange between Cuba and the United States, as well as the role of design and heritage preservation as fundamental tools to promote mutual understanding, historical memory, and dialogue between peoples.
