The Second Deputy Head of Mission at the Cuban Embassy in the United States, Tanieris Diéguez, participated last Thursday in a panel organized by the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), where she addressed the current state of bilateral relations between Cuba and the United States.
During her presentation, Diéguez outlined the main elements that characterize the complex bilateral scenario and reiterated Cuba's historical and sustained willingness to maintain a respectful and meaningful dialogue with the U.S. government, based on sovereign equality and respect for non-interference, with the aim of making progress on outstanding issues on the bilateral agenda.
The panel was moderated by Andy Shallal, a member of the IPS board of directors and a political activist, and also included the participation of David Ramírez, an official from the Cuban Embassy.
The meeting was attended by representatives from research centers, think tanks, and members of the academic and public policy community in Washington, D.C., who exchanged views on the current challenges and the possibilities for moving toward a more constructive relationship between the two countries.
