Cuban representative speaks to the South African people about the US blockade

The Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Cuba in South Africa, Iván Ferrer Arenas, offered on August 29, an interview with Channel Africa, the most popular radio station in the country and with reach in all the countries of the region.

In his interview, the official highlighted the impact that the blockade imposed by the United States Government against Cuba, for more than half a century, has on the development of the country and the population in particular. He also referred to the considerable damages that in the financial and commercial sector this illegal policy has caused to the Cuban people, as well as it's extraterritorial scope.

He updated the South African people on the main processes that take place in Cuba, in particular the popular consultation for the constitutional reform and the levels of popular participation that in this exercise are guaranteed and promoted.

He reiterated the commitment of the country's leadership to build a prosperous and sustainable socialism where the main rights conquered by the Revolution are guaranteed. He added that the principles of the Revolution remain unchanged, and that proletarian internationalism will continue to be a bulwark in relations with the African continent and with South Africa, where thousands of internationalist aid workers assist these countries in various sectors.

He thanked the South African people and government for the solidarity extended to the Cuban people in all their battles, especially in the struggle for the liberation of the Five Heroes and for the lifting of the blockade. In this regard, explained the forthcoming vote in the UN General Assembly, the draft resolution on the need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US Government against Cuba.
