Rome, October13, 2024.- The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic, Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, arrived in Rome to attend the World Food Forum to be held at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) from 14 to 18 October.
Launched in 2021 as an independent network of partners facilitated by FAO, it serves as the main global platform to actively shape agri-food systems towards a better food future, accelerating the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The main event is organised around three pillars: World Youth Action; Science and Innovation; and Hand in Hand Investment. In the latter, the delegation will present its investment plans and opportunities in products such as citrus and fruits, grains, rice and the production of sugar and its derivatives.
During his stay, Tapia Fonseca will meet with FAO Director-General QU Dongyu. The delegation also includes senior officials from the Ministries of Agriculture and Foreign Trade, the Ambassador of Cuba to Italy and Permanent Representative to the international organisations based in Rome, as well as officials from the Embassy, who will hold meetings with authorities from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Food Programme (WFP).
