With the aspiration of making a decisive contribution to safeguarding the Revolution, defending Socialism and promoting the sustainable prosperity of the nation, the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) celebrates its 64th anniversary today.
This was stated to Prensa Latina by Teresa Amarelle, general secretary of this organization founded in 1960 and which develops policies and programs to achieve the full exercise of equality for women in every area and social level.
We celebrate this August 23rd, determined to overcome the obstacles imposed by the United States economic and financial blockade against Cuba, with great dedication and commitment to economic and social tasks, said Amarelle.
The day before, the FMC secretary general participated alongside hundreds of Cuban women in a volunteer work organized at the Pararrayos Base Business Unit in the Yabú production hub in Santa Clara.
Two thousand members of the federation will meet this Friday in the Leoncio Vidal park of that city, capital of the central province of Villa Clara, to take part in the main celebration for the FMC's birthday.
Before, the town of Villa Clara, which is part of the National Vanguard and deserved to host the national festivities, will witness a solemn act: the changing of the flowers at the Mausoleum in Plaza Ernesto Che Guevara.
