The Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity (HCIF-PFS) expresses grave concern over escalation of United States judicial harassment and spurious threats against the Caribbean nation of Cuba. It is in the context of these hostile actions that the HCIF-PFS would like to issue this statement as follows:
The Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity fully supports the noble and courageous people of Cuba and their strong commitment to prevent and oppose violence, fighting terrorism and other transnational organised crimes, and to promoting peace and respect for the inherent dignity of all human beings. The HCIF-PFS considers all intimidation, harassment and threats to intervene in Cuba militarily as serious. Any and all threats to unleash genocide on the Cuban people through violence and aggressive rhetoric shall be validated and considered a threat to assassinate a sovereign and independent nation.
For over six and half decades since the triumph of the Cuban revolution in 1959, successive administrations in Washington have been making attempts to implement regime change in Havana, and have made 637 attempts to assassinate the iconic Cuban revolutionary leader, the late Fidel Castro. Some of the tools employed by the US to destabilise the Cuban nation include naked terrorism, undeclared economic war, commercial and trade embargo, germ warfare, sanctions, malicious media campaign, demonization and isolation. None of these outright subversive actions has achieved stated goals.
In the aftermath of the failed coup d’état and traitorous betrayal in Venezuela, on 3rd January, 2026 the Trump administration in Washington feels much more thirst for the blood of the Cuban people and has now turned the gauntlet to target and destabilise Cuba. In Venezuela we saw how President Maduro and his wife were betrayed and sold to the enemy. But in Cuba, the case is different and history has proven how the Cuban people have heroically resisted all previous attempts, and this time will not be different because Cuba is prepared to resist the current US hostility in this heightened geopolitical tension.
Today, the Trump administration has once again used the bogey of terrorism to advance its sham narrative of victimhood, jeopardizing regional peace and security. The US Justice Department’s indictment of former 94-year old President Raul Castro for an alleged conspiracy to kill US nationals and murder 30 years ago in 1996 should be seen here as nothing but a renewed judicial harassment faced by the Cuban nation since 1962, when the illegal, unnmandated and unwanted blockade was imposed on the Island nation by the US government.
Since the triumph of the great Cuban revolution and the demise of the Batista dictatorship in 1959, US imperialism has done everything to undermine the peace, stability and development of Cuba, and to impose its will on its small and defiant neighbour. The Trump administration’s forceful reinstatement of punitive and brutal sanctions, prosecuting economic war, arbitrarily putting Cuba on the list of terrorist states, imposing a ban on petroleum import, commercial transactions and travel with the country constitute heinous crimes, collective punishment and genocide. It also constitutes war crimes of the 21st century.
The writing on the wall is clear even a blind man can see and read the sentences and paragraphs. US government’s thirsts for the blood of the Cuban people, its acts of cold-blooded killings, the kidnapping of the Venezuelan President and his wife during a traitorous subversive operation which claimed the lives of dozens of Cubans, and the brazen act of piracy and taking over Venezuela’s oil tankers have only added insult to injury and exacerbated the situation for Cuba’s security and economy. The United States had hoped that the total breakdown of Cuba’s national electricity grid, wrecking havocs on civil and medical services, and health and nutrition in that country would bring about regime change in Havana. But this is an impossible target.
HCIF-PFS calls on the international community to stand in solidarity with Cuba by launching mobilizations and releasing statements condemning the harassment, intimidation, threat, collective punishment and re-echoing the calls for the US government to cease all forms of intimidation and aggressive rhetoric against the Cuban nation. We must continue to stand behind Cuba, provide any support possible, and demand justice for the Cuban people.
Like any other member-state of the United Nations, Cuba reserves the right to respond appropriately at a time and place of its choosing, in accordance with the Article-51 of the UN Charter, and as enshrined in international law. We urge vigilance against disinformation and condemn those who unnecessarily rouse hysteria during these circumstances. We urge the US government to honour its commitment to international human rights treaties by which it is bound, and stop its meddling mentality in the internal matters of Cuba.
The judicial harassment against former President Raul Castro must be dropped immediately. The Presidential Executive Orders that have been weaponized to vilify and intervene in Cuba or any other country, including Venezuela, Africa, Iran and Asia must be repealed.
Concluding, the Hugo Chavez International Foundation for Peace, Friendship and Solidarity condemns heinous sanctions, undeclared economic war and spurious blockade against Cuba. We condemn Cuba’s designation by the US as a terrorist state, and the trade and travel restrictions on that country. The unipolar world order that is championed by the US as the world policeman has been proved to be nothing but diabolic and spurious acts that threatened the continuity of the Cuban nation. We stand with the people of Cuba, in defence of their sovereignty and national independence.
Long live Cuba!
