Vientiane, July 26, 2022. Before a distinguished audience of more than 200 people made up of the faculty of professors and students of the University of Souphanouvong, located in the province of Luang Prabang, the Lao-Cuba Friendship Association celebrated together with the Embassy of Cuba, the 69th anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada Barracks Ambassador Enna Viant Valdes recalled the historical figure of Souphanouvong and his link with Cuba, when she visited Havana, on behalf of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, to participate in the sixth Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, and feel honored with the Order Playa Girón that was imposed at the hands of the historic leader of the Revolution Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. The occasion was propitious to delve into the History of Cuba and the neocolonial domination suffered by the Caribbean island, and the meaning of an action that ratified the undisputed leader of the political-revolutionary vanguard, embodied in the political program known as History will absolve me.
The Ambassador highlighted the achievements made by Cuba in different fields such as health, education, culture and science, despite being the victim of a subversive misinformation campaign coupled with the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade that it has suffered for more than 60 years. This campaign manipulated, prepared and financed by the US Government, is now multidimensional, aggressive, distorted not only in social networks and tries to destroy once and for all the Cuban Revolution, its example and meaning for all peoples who love peace and development.
Finally, the Cuban diplomat thanked the Lao friends for their support and solidarity in the fight against the economic and commercial blockade and mentioned the words of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez when he said that “Defending Cuba is defending a project of dignity human”. For this reason, Cuba is grateful and proud to have the indestructible friendship of the Lao Party, Government and people, in the common effort to build sustainable socialism based on principles of peace and cooperation.
The Ambassador of Cuba was honored to be received on this important occasion, by the Governor of Luang Prabang, Mr. Khamkhan Chanthavisouk as well as for other high provincial leaders.
