The Minister of Tourism and Culture receives the Head of the Cuban Diplomatic Mission.

Freetown, December 2, 2024. The Cuban Chargé d'Affaires, Ambassador Norma Sánchez Águila, was received by the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Mrs. Nabeela Farida Tunis.

In a cordial meeting, both parties highlighted the ties of solidarity that unite both nations and ratified their willingness to work together to promote bilateral relations in the political, economic, tourism, cultural and cooperation fields in the training and development of human capital.

The Cuban diplomat thanked the Honourable for her warm welcome, reiterating her gratitude for the solidarity of the Sierra Leonean people with the Cuban people in their struggle against the unjust and cruel economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba for more than 60 years.

The head of the Cuban diplomatic mission referred to the current situation in Cuba due to the tightening of the blockade and the unilateral measures of the United States government towards the island, including the inclusion of Cuba in the list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism. She conveyed the feelings of the Cuban people and the struggle they were waging in order to maintain their sovereignty and independence.
