Pan African Congress Kenya condemns the US blockade on Cuba

The Pan African Congress Kenya (PAC–Kenya) expressed its unwavering solidarity with the people and government of Cuba and joined the global call to end the illegal, immoral, and genocidal blockade imposed by the United States of America.

The official statement issued for the Pan African organization reads:

The Pan African Congress Kenya (PAC–Kenya) expresses its unwavering solidarity with the people and government of Cuba and joins the global call to end the illegal, immoral, and genocidal blockade imposed by the United States of America.

For more than six decades, the blockade has inflicted immense suffering on the Cuban people, costing the nation over USD 170 billion and violating international law, the UN Charter, and Cuba’s sovereign right to peace, development, and self-determination. Between March 2024 and February 2025, the blockade caused USD 7.5 billion in new damages, paralyzing access to medicine, healthcare, education, energy, and trade.

The Pan African Congress Kenya condemns this policy as an act of economic warfare and a crime against humanity. We reject the ongoing U.S. campaign of coercion and intimidation targeting sovereign states ahead of the UN vote, a campaign denounced publicly by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla as an assault on diplomacy and state sovereignty.

Cuba is a nation of peace that has never threatened any country. It has instead sent doctors, teachers, and humanitarian missions to the world, including Africa. We recall Cuba’s heroic contribution to African liberation, from Angola to South Africa, and affirm: Africa will not forget its friends.

We therefore call upon: The Government of Kenya, the East African Community (EAC), and the African Union (AU) to reaffirm their collective support and vote decisively to end the blockade. The United Nations, European Union (EU), and Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to stand on the side of justice and truth. The United States Government to immediately lift the blockade, end all unilateral coercive measures, and remove Cuba from the false list of State Sponsors of Terrorism.

The world faces a moral test at the United Nations. This vote is not only about Cuba, it is about the principles of freedom, sovereignty, and justice for all humanity.

The Pan African Congress Kenya declares: The blockade is not diplomacy, it is persecution. It is not freedom, it is oppression. It is not democracy, it is domination.

We call upon all peace-loving nations to stand with Cuba.

End the Blockade. Restore Justice. Long Live Cuba. Viva Africa. Viva Pan-African Solidarity.
