Sierra Leone celebrates the 99th anniversary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro.

Freetown, August 13, 2025 - The Cuban Embassy in the Republic of Sierra Leone commemorated the life and work of the Commander-in-Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, on the occasion of his 99th birthday.

Ambassador Norma Sánchez Aguila addressed the life, work, and legacy of our beloved Commander-in-Chief, as well as the relevance and universality of his thought. She highlighted the role of the leader of the Cuban Revolution in our foreign policy, in defense of peace, solidarity, and the fight against imperialism.

The occasion was opportune to condemn the criminal US economic, financial, and commercial blockade against Cuba and denounce the inclusion of our country on the arbitrary and fraudulent list of alleged states that sponsor terrorism.

The meeting, marked by numerous displays of affection for Cuba, was attended by Alhaji Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, members of the International Foundation for Peace, Friendship, and Solidarity, Hugo Chávez, representatives of the Sierra Leone Student Friendship Association, and graduates in Cuba.

During the meeting, initiatives to be developed during 2025 and 2026 were agreed upon as part of the Centennial of the Commander-in-Chief.
