Young Communist League of Britain sends congratulatory message to the UJC.

London, 8 April 2024- Today the Young Communist League (YCL) of the United Kingdom sent a message of congratulations to the First Secretary of the Young Communist League of Cuba, Meyvis Estévez Echavarría, on her election as head of the Cuban youth organisation during its 12th Congress on from 2 to 4 April.

"The YCL will always be actively involved in the Cuba Solidarity Campaign, campaigning politically against the blockade of Cuba, against the spurious inclusion of Cuba on States Sponsor of Terrorism List and against  the anti-Cuba propaganda that the US promotes around the world," the message underlines.

The letter published on the YCL's X account concludes with an acknowledgement of the international solidarity that Cuba has traditionally provided and the ratification of the organisation's solidarity with the Caribbean island.

The Young Communist League, founded in 1921, is the youth wing of the Communist Party of Britain. It has traditionally maintained friendly relations with the UJC. Some of its members have been in Cuba as part of the International May Day Brigade. In 2022, the then General Secretary of the YCL, Johnnie Hunter, was received at the headquarters of the Cuban communist youth organisation in Havana.
