DIRECTOR GENERAL AND AMBASSADOR-AT-LARGE OF SIERRA LEONE THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION RECEIVES THE HEAD OF THE CUBAN DIPLOMATIC MISSION IN FREETOWN.

Freetown, August 29, 2024. The Cuban Chargé d'Affaires, Ambassador Norma Sánchez Águila was received at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation by the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Victoria M. Sulimani.

In a cordial meeting, both parties highlighted the ties of solidarity that unite both nations and ratified the will to work together to promote bilateral relations in the political, economic and cooperation fields in the training and development of human capital.

The Cuban diplomat thanked Dr. Victoria M. Sulimani for her warm welcome, reiterating her gratitude for the solidarity of the Sierra Leonean people with the Cuban people in their fight against the unjust and cruel economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba for more than 60 years.

The head of the Cuban Mission referred to the situation that Cuba was going through due to the tightening of the blockade and the unilateral measures of the United States government towards the island, including the inclusion of Cuba in the list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism. She conveyed the feelings of the Cuban people and the struggle they were waging in order to maintain their sovereignty and independence.
