In the spirit of the Ordinary Jubilee of the Year 2025, the Cuban Government releases persons who are serving prison sentences.

As part of the close and fluid relations with the Vatican, the Government of Cuba has remained in touch with Pope Francis and his representatives and, as has occurred in the past, has kept His Holiness informed about the processes of review of the convictions and the release on imprisoned person, a practice that is common in our judicial system and has characterized the humanitarian record of the Revolution.
The United States takes steps in the right direction, but the blockade remains in force.
Declaration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba
On January 14, 2025, the government of the United States announced the following decisions:
1. Remove Cuba from the State Department list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism;
2. Make use of the presidential faculty to prevent US courts from taking action with regards to lawsuits that might be filed by virtue of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act; and
Presidente de Cuba en Venezuela para toma de posesión de Maduro
Caracas, 10 de enero de 2025.- El presidente de Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, arribó este viernes a Venezuela para acompañar a su homólogo Nicolás Maduro en la toma de posesión ante la Asamblea Nacional (Parlamento) para el periodo 2025-2031.
La delegación cubana fue recibida en la rampa cuatro del aeropuerto internacional Simón Bolívar de Maiquetía, estado de La Guaira, por la vicepresidenta sectorial para la Ciencia, Tecnología y Salud, Gabriela Jiménez, y el embajador de la isla en Caracas, Dagoberto Rodríguez.
Viceministro Primero de Relaciones Exteriores de Cuba realiza visita oficial a Kuwait
Kuwait, 9 de enero de 2025.- El viceministro de Asuntos Exteriores del Estado de Kuwait, Excmo. Sr. el Jeque Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, recibió al viceministro primero de Relaciones Exteriores de Cuba, Gerardo Peñalver Portal, quien se encuentra de visita oficial en ese país.
Culmina agenda bilateral del Viceministro Primero de Relaciones Exteriores de Cuba por Qatar
Doha, 8 de enero de 2025.- El viceministro primero de Relaciones Exteriores de Cuba, Gerardo Peñalver Portal, cumplimentó una intensa agenda bilateral durante la visita oficial al Estado de Qatar, del 6 al 8 de enero de 2025.
Peñalver Portal presidió la III Ronda de Consultas Políticas con su contraparte el Excmo. Sr. Sultán Bin Saad Sultán Al-Muraikhi, ministro de Estado de Asuntos Exteriores. Ambas partes coincidieron en el excelente estado de las relaciones bilaterales, fortalecidas tras la visita oficial realizada por el presidente cubano, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, en 2023.
