January 1st 1959 marked the beginning of a new dawn for Cuba. U.S backed General Fulgencio Baptista who came to power in a coup d’état on March 10th, 1952 was overthrown.

La Habana, 1 de enero de 2025.- La Alianza Bolivariana para los Pueblos de Nuestra América-Tratado de Comercio de los Pueblos (ALBA-TCP) conmemoró hoy los 66 años del triunfo de la Revolución cubana, de lo que llamó aquel glorioso 1 de enero de 1959.
En esa fecha Fidel Castro Ruz y su ejército rebelde entraron a Santiago de Cuba, en el oriente de la isla, marcaron el cierre de una oscura etapa de opresión neocolonial y abrieron, a su vez, la senda de la liberación del pueblo cubano, indicó el bloque de integración en un comunicado.

The Cuban people staged a heartfelt revolutionary march, the largest in recent times, on December 20 to demand that the U.S. government end the inhuman and cruel economic, commercial and financial blockade and the infamous inclusion of Cuba on the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

‘A people united can never be defeated’. This is true of the determination of the Cuban people, who are ever united in their condemnation, rejection and resistance towards any outside attempts to meddle in their country’s sovereign matters. The December 20th, 2024 gathering across the length and breadth of Cuba was dubbed to what many referred to as the most significant sovereign march in the Caribbean nation’s recent history.
