On March 15, 1978, the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz announced in a speech that the Somali invaders withdraw from the Ethiopian territory and proclaimed the jointly victory of the Ethiopian and Cuban troops.
Today, we commemorate the 40th anniversary of that historical chapter. It is a moment to appreciate the participation on the events of thousands of Ethiopians and Cubans and particularly to celebrate the lives of the 163 Cubans and many Ethiopians fallen during the military campaigns.
In a peaceful atmosphere, Cuba and Ethiopia boost their cooperation in various fields based on the brotherhood sealed with blood 40 years ago.
