The 60th Anniversary of the Cuban medical collaboration in the world is celebrated in The Bahamas.

Nassau, May 22nd, 2023. The members of the Cuban Medical Brigade in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, in a simple but emotive activity, celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the Cuban medical collaboration. The commemoration was chaired by Dr. Danixa Novoa Sotomayor, Chief of the Brigade and Junier Calderón Argüelles, Counselor of the Cuban Embassy. The Engineer Theodore Nottage, Head of the Department of Electro-medicine, participated, on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Caribbean nation, who expressed his appreciation for the Cuban work in support of the health of other peoples for decades and the deep admiration for the Cuban professionals of that sector.

Cuba's collaboration with The Bahamas was established 19 years ago. Doctors, nurses, pharmacists, computer scientists and biomedical engineers have participated in it. During the year 2022, it was highlighted the valuable contribution in confronting the COVID 19 pandemic of a Henry Reeve Brigade comprised by 50 nurses.

Currently, the Brigade is integrated by 11 cooperators, to whom three dozen new collaborators will soon be added selected recently by local health authorities.
