Vienna, January 4, 2022. The members of the board of the Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG) and representatives of the Embassy of Cuba in this country, celebrated the 63rd Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution at the headquarters of the solidarity organization “Havana Club”.
The President of the ÖKG, Michael Wögerer, dedicated emotional words to the strong conviction and spirit of resistance of the Cuban Revolution and its people, who in recent months have been the object of a campaign of political manipulation created by the government of the United States. United States, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the tightening of the blockade. Wögerer also highlighted the positive impact of the Revolution on the generations of young people in the world, including that of Austria and, on behalf of the organization, reaffirmed the commitment of the Austrian friends to continue supporting the Cuban cause.
The Ambassador, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. from the Embassy of Cuba in Austria, Soraya Álvarez, thanked the Board and members of the ÖKG for their unconditional support to Cuba. She referred to the challenges facing the Island in the coming year, as well as the achievements made by the Revolution in confronting COVID-19, with its own means and despite the limitations imposed by the blockade.
At the event, the new quarterly edition of the magazine ¡Cuba Sí!, a publication of the ÖKG, was presented.
