The 64th anniversary of the Bay of Pigs victory commemorated in Toronto.

Organized by the solidarity group “Toronto Forum On Cuba”, intellectuals, Cuban residents, members of the consulate, Palestinians and other friends of Cuba commemorated the 64th anniversary of the victory of Playa Giron.

The central words were in charge of Morteza Gorgzadeh, president of the solidarity group “Toronto Forum On Cuba”, who highlighted the importance of the date for Cuba and the world, as well as the attitude and example of our people and leaders, especially Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz. He took the opportunity to highlight the marked symbolism of resistance that it represented for other people, such as the Palestinian one, who suffer imperialist aggressions especially from the Israeli government, and the solidarity of our government, particularly in sending medical brigades and in the training of health personnel in Cuba from many countries, especially from Palestine.

Morteza read a message from Zafar Bangash, Director of the Institute of Contemporary Islamic Thought, where he highlighted the struggle of the Cuban people in very difficult circumstances,  keeping its revolutionary spirit;  the survival for more than 60 years to the blockade and imperialist sanctions of the US government and the solidarity and example of the Cuban people and government.

In addition, Sarah Abu-Sharar, Palestinian storyteller who will participate in the May Pilgrimages, made a beautiful representation of the deep suffering of the Palestinian people, resulting of the systematic aggression of the Israeli government. This was a perfect moment to project images and videos of some activities in Cuba to commemorate the first great defeat of U.S. imperialism in America.  Those present reaffirmed their love and commitment to Cuba and to the brotherly people of Palestine.

Young Cuban diplomat Aneylin Ruiz Casas presented an allegorical presentation on the deed, in which she highlighted its historical importance for Cuba and the world. For his part, Consul General Jorge Yanier Castellanos Orta, took the opportunity to thank the organizers and those present for their interest in joining the Cuban people in the commemoration of this transcendental victory and for their solidarity with our country. He denounced the negative impact of the imperialist war of the U.S. government against Cuba and other peoples of the world, highlighted the humanist vocation of the Cuban Revolution, and ratified the backing and support for the just cause of the Palestinian people.
