65th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution Commemorated in Lebanon
On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, representatives of the League of Palestinian Graduates of the Universities and Institutes on the island, the Popular League and the Palestine-Cuba Friendship Association, expressed their support and gratitude to Cuba for its fraternal historical solidarity with Palestine.
Under the title "Cuba and Palestine face a common enemy", the speakers also agreed on the rejection of US imperialism, as the main sponsor of terrorism and ally of the Israeli occupation.
At the headquarters of the Popular League in Tareek El Jadideh, in Beirut, the president of the organization Raji Al Hakim highlighted the example of resistance of the Cuban people in the face of the blockade imposed by Washington for more than six decades.
At the same time, he evoked the revolutionary example of the Cuban leader, Fidel Castro, and the internationalist guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara for the independence processes of the world.
On the occasion, the head of the League of Palestinian Graduates in Universities and Institutes of the largest of the Antilles, Ali El Khatib, gave an overview of the historical solidarity offered by Cuba to Palestine and thanked the granting of annual scholarships by the nation to the Palestinians as part of the invaluable contribution of the Cuban Revolution.
On behalf of the Friendship Association, Dr. Fayez Al Bibi recalled how in 1947 Cuba was the only Latin American country to vote against the partition plan for Palestine.
In his speech, he recalled the words of Fidel Castro before the UN in 1979 when he denounced the Zionist siege against the Palestinians, "deprived of their lands, expelled from their own homeland, dispersed throughout the world, persecuted and assassinated".
It also meant the meeting of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez with a group of Palestinian students last November and his constant calls to stop the massacres and aggression against the people of Gaza.
In the activity, the head of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Beirut, Jorge León Cruz, conveyed condolences to the families and friends of the Palestinian martyrs and thanked the support of the League of Palestinian Graduates of the Universities and Institutes on the island, the Popular League and the Association of Palestine-Cuba Friendship, in the celebration of this transcendental event that highlights the important role played by the Cuban Revolution as an example of international resistance.

The Cuban ambassador warned of the increasing deterioration of the economic and social conditions of the Palestinian people as a result of illegal practices and the continued colonization of land in violation of international humanitarian law.
He also gave an update on the achievements of the Cuban people during 2023 and confirmed that Cuba will continue to promote sustainable development that ensures prosperity, equity, social justice and work for the multiplication of the achievements of the Revolution.
