Port of Spain, December 19th, 2024. At the headquarters of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) in Port of Spain, the ceremony for the handover of the position of Secretary General took place.
The event opened with remarks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and CARICOM, Dr. Hon. Amery Browne, followed by the outgoing Secretary General Rodolfo Sabonge, who provided a summary of the most significant contributions to the organization during his tenure. After the handover and signing of the designation instrument, the newly elected Secretary General of the ACS, Ambassador Noemí Espinoza Madrid, delivered a brief speech expressing gratitude for the support received and outlining her vision for the organization's immediate future.
Speeches were also delivered by the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to Trinidad and Tobago, Ambassador of Türkiye Bengü Yigitgüden, and Kandya Obezo, Colombia's Vice Minister of Multilateral Affairs.
