In an emotional ceremony held at the Memorial erected in Paynes Bay to the victims of the heinous attack on the flight CU-455 of Cubana October 6, 1976, senior government officials, Parliament and organizations of Barbadian movement of solidarity with Cuba, deposited several wreaths and spoke heartfelt words, in which the conjugated tribute to the fallen, dissatisfaction because after 39 years has not done full justice and condemnation of terrorism latent identified as a challenge for the entire Caribbean.
The Minister Stephen Lashley, Barbadian Foreign Minister in office, after placing an offering with Cuban Ambassador, Francisco Fernandez highlighted the commitment and support of his country with the nation Cuban sister in the fight against terrorism and how this commemoration shows the challenges that the heroic Cuban people have had to face when building their political and social revolution.
Delivering the closing remarks of the solemn ceremony, thanking the offerings of flowers and sentiments expressed by previous speakers, he asked several questions that are still unanswered and common sense of our people assume the complicit silence of the responsible impunity and double standards policy: why no one bothered to warn of the attack, if the CIA had alerted Washington about plans of Posada Carriles; why nothing happened after his lawyer acknowledged before a federal judge that everything done by his client on the continent was on behalf of Washington; why the biggest terrorist in the hemisphere remains free and alleged war against terrorism on behalf of the international community argue; why Venezuela is still waiting for the answer to its request for extradition; why families of the victims are still waiting for justice arrives; why Cuba was forced to mobilize his people for 16 years to free five of his children, true anti-terrorist fighters; why the Cuban people still subjected to genocidal blockade and programs must address internal subversion and illegal radio television broadcasts from US territory?
He concluded by acknowledging the support of the Government, Parliament and the Barbadian people to the tireless struggle of the Cuban people against the scourge of terrorism, under the premise of defending the idea that a better world is possible, but that dream must be built between all our peoples.
