The activities of the Day of the National Culture, which are organized in Austria, began yesterday with a celebration, led by Cubans residing in this country at the emblematic Danzón club, located in the center of Vienna. The Ambassador of Cuba, Juan Antonio Fernández Palacios and the personnel of diplomatic mission accredited to this country; in addition to the delegation of the Ministry of Justice of Cuba, headed by Deputy Minister Rosabel Gamón Verde (who has a is executing a working program in Vienna) attended the event.
The program of the event included a competitive domino festival, the performance of the comedian Limay Blanco and a Presión Cubana Band concert (a band composed of Cuban musicians who reside in Austria). The event was complemented with the offer of traditional Cuban food and cocktails which were pleasantly welcomed by the large audience.
It was the beginning of a cultural program sponsored by the Embassy of Cuba in Austria, which will run until Saturday, 20 October. It will also include concerts by singer-songwriters, Afro-Cuban and popular dance workshops; a giant rueda de casino (a particular type of Salsa square - in this case 'round'- dance) in the center of the city. Other activities in which Cubans and friends of the Cuban culture will be able to celebrate and share the most authentic traditions of the Caribbean country will take place.
