Over six days, the event, held under the motto “Dialogues for Ambition and Implementation”, aims to consolidate a common climate agenda for Africa and amplify its priorities ahead of the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP30, in Brazil.

The opening ceremony featured the presence of high-level dignitaries, including the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Taye Atske-Selassie; the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf; Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timotheos; Noura Hamladji, Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and Fitsum Assefa, Minister of Planning and Development of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, highlighting the importance of CW2 for the upcoming Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2), which will be held next week in Addis Ababa.
