From Addis Ababa to the world: firm support for Cuba in the face of the blockade

Addis Ababa, February 21, 2026.- In an atmosphere of firmness and commitment, the Associations of Solidarity with Cuba celebrated a significant act of support for the Island, where friendly voices converged, determined to denounce the economic blockade and the oil embargo that severely impact the Cuban people.

The day began with a blessing from Ethiopian-Cuban priest Esrael Alemnew, who called for prayers for the well-being of the Cuban people, for friendship between nations, and for world peace. His call set the tone for a gathering filled with commitment and fraternity.

The event brought together the Ethiopian-Cuban Friendship Group, prominent intellectuals, representatives from the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Cubans residing in Ethiopia, who all condemned the intensification of coercive measures imposed by the United States government.

During the speeches, it was emphasized that these unilateral actions not only seek to strangle the Cuban economy, but also to create shortages in strategic sectors, directly affecting families.

The slogan "Cuba is not alone" set the tone of the event, in a collective outcry that reaffirmed Cuba's resistance, dignity, and right to live without external pressure. The words spoken were imbued with active solidarity and profound recognition of the Cuban people's capacity to resist more than six decades of economic aggression.

The event also included the participation of the Ambassadors of Venezuela, Colombia, and Mexico accredited to the country, who expressed their unequivocal support for Cuba and reiterated the importance of Latin American and African unity in defending sovereignty and international law.

From Addis Ababa, a strong message was sent to the world: Cuba has friends who do not remain silent, who support and defend its right to develop in peace.
