Ambassador of Cuba to Ethiopia pays courtesy visit to the Ambassador of Rwanda, Ms. Hope Tumukunde Gasatura

Addis Ababa, August 04, 2022. The Cuban Ambassador to Ethiopia, Jorge Lefebre Nicolás, paid a courtesy visit to the Ambassador of Rwanda, Ms. Hope Tumukunde Gasatura. During the meeting, both diplomats exchanged on the economic and social reality of their respective countries.  In his speech, the Cuban ambassador highlighted the immense efforts made by Cuba in its fight against the iron economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the Government of the United States. He added that the country despite its limited material resources was able to develop its own vaccines against the unknown Covid-19 disease.

Both diplomats underlined the intense cultural ties between Cuba and Africa, rooted in the culture and diversity of the Cuban people. "For Cuba, fraternal ties with Africa are part of our history, and are based on the deep cultural and historical roots of the Cuban people, which are reflected today in the close relations of mutual benefit and commitment of the island with the brother continent," said the ambassador.

The Rwandan diplomat, for her part, highlighted the important place that Cuba occupies in the history of Africa, as a country that always offers its solidarity and disinterested help in the most difficult moments of the decolonization process.
