Ambassador of Cuba to India paid a working visit to Kochi in Kerala

The Ambassador of Cuba to India, Juan Carlos Marsán Aguilera, paid a working visit to Kochi on July 1 and 2. Considered one of the most cosmopolitan and economically dynamic cities in the state of Kerala, Kochi provided a favorable setting for strengthening economic, social, and cultural ties between the two countries. The Ambassador was accompanied by First Secretary Maiky Díaz Pérez.

The visit programme included a meeting with the Kochi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the oldest in India. During the exchange, opportunities and new facilities for developing business with Cuba were discussed in strategic sectors such as food production, renewable energy, hospitality and tourism, biotechnology, and logistics, among others.

The Cuban delegation also took part in the handover ceremony of the presidency of the Rotary Club of Kottayam, in Kerala, to Rtn. PP Mathew. In that context, the profound social work of the Cuban Revolution, the community work carried out by the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) in every neighborhood of the country, and the effects of the restrictions imposed on the Cuban people by the United States' economic, commercial, and financial blockade were highlighted.

During their stay in Kochi, the delegation held meetings with representatives of various religious institutions. In these meetings, experiences were shared regarding the recognition and guarantee of freedom of belief in Cuba, as well as the valuable contribution of religious communities to social welfare and the strengthening of national unity.

In each of the meetings, the achievements of the Cuban revolutionary project and the process of transformations taking place in the 67th year since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution were highlighted, a year dedicated to the historic leader Fidel Castro on the occasion of the centenary of his birth.
