Beirut, January 15, 2021. The Cuban ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, said today that the United States lacks the moral authority and legitimacy to condemn any other country and include it on a list of sponsors of terrorism.
Pellicer Moraga offered statements to the pan-Arab channel Al Mayadeen, regarding a recent North American decision to reinsert the Antillean nation on that list.
It is an affront to the Cuban people, who have suffered hundreds of terrorist actions planned by successive US governments over the past 62 years, he added.
The data is eloquent, he specified, he, 3,478 fatalities and 2,999 disabled people due to attacks, sabotage and murders organized by terrorists such as Luis Posada Carriles, who received asylum and protection in the United States.
Posada Carriles is one of the perpetrators of the sabotage of the Cubana de Aviación aircraft that exploded on October 6, 1976, leaving 73 people dead.
The inclusion of Cuba, added the diplomat, is also an affront to the thousands of martyrs who, in Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Iraq or Iran, fell in combat against radical and extremist groups financed by the United States.
In the opinion of the Cuban ambassador, the objective of outgoing President Donald Trump is to hinder the elect Joe Biden from the prospect of improving bilateral relations between Washington and Havana.
Regarding this possibility, Pellicer Moraga, considered that despite the profound political differences, this does not prevent a relationship of respect and cooperation in sectors of common interest for the benefit of both.
In the diplomat's opinion, the United States' blockade policy against Cuba affects the American people by depriving them of access to medicines that could save lives and improve the quality of existing ones. (Embacuba Líbano/Prensa Latina)
