Ambassador of Cuba made work visit to Georgia

The ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Georgia, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, made a concurrence visit in this nation, in which he was received by several local authorities.

During his stay, the diplomat met with the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Levan Kharatishvili and the First Deputy Minister of Health, Tamar Gabunia.

Nieves Portuondo also maintained contact with the president of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia and head of the Institute of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, George Kvesitadze.

He also visited Tbilisi State University where he was received by his rector, Dr. George Sharvashidze.

During the visit, the ambassador and the consul of the Cuban diplomatic mission, Alina Quesada Rodriguez, toured the facilities of the Tbilisi State Conservatory and held a meeting with their rector, Nana Sharikadze.

On the other hand, in meetings with officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia both parties exchanged on the state of bilateral relations and the ways to revitalize trade.

Khatuna Kveselava, deputy director of the Directorate of the Americas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs appreciated the interest of the two nations in strengthening historical friendship ties.

Nieves Portuondo toured the Palace of Justice (Public Service) and spoke in the consortium, Rustavi AZOT, with his manager, Levan Burdiladze.

He also valued future cultural actions with the general producer of BOLDMEN Production, Irakli Nadareishvili and with executives of the Georgia-Cuba friendship society.

The ambassador offered a conference at the Center for Spanish Language and Culture in Tbilisi and held talks with Cubans residing in this Caucasian nation.
