With participation in the commemorative events for the National Day of Georgia, exchanges with the President of this nation, Salome Zurabishvili, the Prime Minister, Mamuka Bakhtadze, and bilateral meetings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Parliament, the working visit of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, to this Caucasian nation was developed.
At the working meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Lasha Darsalia, at the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry, the interest to deepen bilateral and multilateral ties between both nations was ratified.
Likewise, Nieves Portuondo held a meeting with the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Georgia, Nino Chikovani, at the headquarters of said institution, where the two parties expressed their willingness to work to explore the commercial links between both countries, in accordance to the existing potentialities and extended the invitation for Georgia to be present at the upcoming Fair of Havana, FIHAV 2019, which will be held from November 4 to 8 in the Cuban capital.
On the other hand, in the seat of the Parliament, the vice president of the Committee of Education, Science and Culture of the Parliament of Georgia and president of the Group of Friendship with Cuba, deputy Guguli Magradze, reiterated the solidarity and friendship of her people with the Cuban nation.
The parliamentarian expressed her satisfaction at periodically maintaining contacts with the Cuban mission and considered it very important to strengthen ties with the Island's counterparts.
At the meeting, the diplomat asked Guguli to convey to his colleagues in Parliament the gratitude of the Cuban people for their support in the fight against the economic blockade and assessed the potential that exists to promote cultural, economic, commercial, educational and scientific, between Georgia and Cuba.
Also, during the concurrence visit, the Cuban ambassador met with representatives of the movement of solidarity with the island, visited cultural and historical objectives of the Georgian capital and held a meeting with Cuban residents in this country.
