Addis Ababa, October 6, 2025.- The Ambassador of Cuba to Ethiopia, Meylin Suárez Álvarez, took part in the joint inaugural session of the House of People’s Representatives (HoPR) and the House of Federation (HoF), which marks the beginning of the fifth year of the sixth parliamentary term of the African nation.
The ceremony, held at the Parliament headquarters, was presided over by the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, H.E. Taye Atske-Selassie, in the presence of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, as well as the speakers of both chambers and members of the federal cabinet.
Ambassadors accredited to the country, religious leaders, representatives of international organizations and members of the diplomatic corps were invited to the opening of the new legislative year.
During his address, President Taye Atske-Selassie highlighted Ethiopia’s recent achievements, including the inauguration of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and the launch of the first phase of the Ogaden Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Project in the Somali region, milestones that symbolize the nation’s economic and energy progress.
