Ambassador of Cuba visits the Austrian State Archive

Vienna, August 25, 2025. - The Cuban Ambassador to the Republic of Austria, Pablo Berti Oliva, today paid a working visit to the Austrian State Archive.

Upon being received by officials of this important Austrian institution, the Ambassador called to explore and establish cooperation links between this prestigious institution and its Cuban counterparts.

This visit, framed in the efforts of the Cuban representative to advance in the strengthening of diplomatic relations between the two countries, was also aimed at discussing the best ways to preserve, study and enrich the shared historical memory of bilateral relations between the two nations. This takes on greater relevance in the context of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Austria, which will be celebrated in 2026.

The occasion was propitious for Ambassador Berti Oliva to learn first-hand about the functioning of this institution of excellence and its work methodologies. The representatives of the Archive presented a sample of the historical documentation they preserve on bilateral relations, including treaties, cablegrams, credential letters, among other documents.

The Austrian State Archive is the central historical memory of the Republic and its predecessors, responsible for receiving, storing and making accessible to research, administration and the general public the permanent evidence of the history of Austria and Central Europe.
