The Ambassador Holds Meeting with Prominent Journalists in Kuwait

Kuwait, February 11. The Ambassador of Cuba to Kuwait, Alain Pérez Torres, held a productive meeting with journalists from several Kuwaiti newspapers. The Cuban diplomat provided extensive information on the situation in Cuba, with emphasis on the devastating impact on the Cuban economy of more than 65 years of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

During the exchange, the Ambassador offered an update on the tightening of unilateral coercive measures under the new Trump administration, particularly regarding the Executive Order through which the U.S. government seeks to impose an “energy blockade,” preventing third countries from selling or sending fuel to Cuba. He denounced that this measure could trigger a humanitarian crisis in the country and stated that any resulting consequences would be the responsibility of the U.S. administration.

The Ambassador explained that these restrictions have directly affected the Cuban people, causing difficulties in electricity supply, limitations in transportation, and additional pressure on key sectors such as healthcare and food security. Nevertheless, he reaffirmed the Cuban government’s determination to continue working to mitigate the impact of these measures and to advance the country’s economic recovery.

He also expressed appreciation for the interest shown by the Kuwaiti press in learning firsthand about Cuba’s reality and reiterated the willingness of the Cuban Embassy in Kuwait to maintain an open and transparent dialogue with the media.

As a result of the meeting, several Kuwaiti newspapers echoed the Cuban ambassador's statements.
