Ambassador to Lebanon gives interview to Mariam TV channel to discuss Cuban vaccines

Beirut, March 23, 2021. Cuban Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, granted an interview to Mariam TV channel to talk about the development of Cuban vaccine candidates, particularly Soberana 02 and Abdala, which are currently in Phase III clinical trials.

The Cuban diplomat highlighted the safety and positive results shown so far by the two most advanced vaccine candidates, and assured that Cuba would be ready to immunize its entire population before the end of the year.

Pellicer also affirmed that the Cuban biopharmaceutical industry would be able to produce 100 million doses this year, which would allow it to start exporting vaccines to other countries and contribute to the eradication of the pandemic, on the premise that health and life are the most important things for Cuba.

The ambassador explained that the achievement of Cuban scientists has taken place in an extremely difficult scenario due to the tightening of the blockade imposed by the U.S., which has made it more difficult to obtain raw materials and the necessary equipment to carry out research. However, the will and commitment of our researchers and technicians have outweighed the difficulties, the diplomat remarked. (Embacuba Líbano)
